Nigeria's former Military and Democratic President, Olusegun Obasanjo, said at an event on Tuesday 15th of December, that he owes no apology for his commitment to the Nigerian project.
He made it known at a dinner organized in his honour by Benue Governor Samuel Ortom during his private visit in Makurdi, Benue State capital, Today reports.
According to him, after his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) membership card was torn he withdrew from all partisan politics and became an impartial Nigerian.
The former president further said that he had a similar history to that of Governor Ortom, who recently revealed he was once a motor park tout at his youthful age, stating that he was called a tout at his old age in 2014.
Speaking about education, Obasanjo said “no age, poverty, status, gender, position barrier in acquiring education and the day one stops learning is the day you also starts dying. He maintained that acquisition of knowledge should be from birth to death”.
Obasanjo applauded what he termed 'Ortom blueprint', which he described as an embodiment of good governance, adding that he must take note of all his promises and urged the people to help him succeed.
He said farmers in the country must joins hands to provide food security, create employment and create wealth for the Nigerian citizens and used the opportunity to condole with the governor and the entire Tiv people over the death of their paramount ruler, HRH Dr. Alfred Akawe Torkula, Tor Tiv, who recently passed on.
