Linda Ikeji, Wizkid and spending your money wisely

Top blogger Linda Ikeji should know renting a mansion or leasing a car does not mean you are broke.

Money talks

Ms. Linda Ikeji is a top, top blogger who is known for splurging her earned cash on expensive bags, luxurious cars, balling in Dubai and oh...that fancy mansion in Banana Island.

There is no problem with how she spends her money. If she can afford it why shouldn't she buy it? She has worked hard for her money, and she can literally burn it if she wants.

Linda Ikeji who is undoubtedly independent and rich does however have a wrong notion about spending money. From some of her certain stories it seems she is ‘outing’ some celebrities for not keeping up to that lavish lifestyle.
Let’s take Wizkid’s issue as the main example of this opinion piece. On Saturday, April 2, 2016 she posted an exclusive story of Wizkid given a quit notice to pack out of the Lekki mansion he has called home for a few years.

In the story Wizkid’s rent expired in January 2016. We all know that there is a rich history between Ikeji and Wizkid but let’s take this story as an isolated incident.
The manner in which she wrote the story felt she was shaming him for not paying his rent. Wizkid did nothing wrong and I don’t feel it is a bad story. Maybe Wizkid was tired of staying in the mansion and wanted to move out. This could be the truth. Really anyone who understands the concept money knows that buying a mansion in Lekki is hard and doesn't make sense unless you are filthy rich.
Linda Ikeji's home
There is nothing wrong in renting a house in Lekki. There is also nothing wrong about being served with a quit notice. Not everyone can buy a mansion with one cheque. Not many millionaires roll like that. Many of them are financially responsible.
Let’s move on. She went on to ‘reveal’ that his Porsche is on hire purchase. Please, what is wrong in getting a car with hire purchase? Linda Ikeji has to understand that riding around in a leased vehicle or staying in a rented apartment doesn’t mean you are broke. It means you are financially wise or cautious. In other parts of the world there is no shame in leasing a car. What’s the big deal about leasing a car. It is not a crime and financially it is a sound move.

From her spending habits we know Linda Ikeji likes to pay for what she has fully. As cool as it may sound it is not financially safe. Cars depreciate and the value of real estates crash. When the economy goes bad it will be hard to dispose of the cars or the house. The burden is all on you unlike when you lease.
Outing celebs who have an issue is not cool but hey it’s her blog. Mocking a celeb for living a sustainable and practical lifestyle should not be a crime in her book however.
