The funeral rites of late Bayelsa State Governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha have begun in the state.

Alamieyeseigha died on Saturday, October 10, 2015, after allegedly slipping into a coma on Thursday, 8.
The burial arrangements had earlier been announced by the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah.
“There will be a Youth/Student Activities in Yenagoa the Bayelsa state capital; public lecture on Federalism and Development in Nigeria, by Prof. G.G Darah at the Banquet Hall, Yenagoa; Night of Songs and Tributes at the Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre, Yenagoa,” Jonah, also the Chairman of the Central Burial Committee, said.
“On Friday, April 8, there will be a Valedictory State Executive Council Session, at the Banquet Hall, Yenagoa and Wake-keep at his country home in Amassoma,” he added.
Jonah said further that the burial ceremony will be concluded with a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, April 10, at St Peters Anglican Church in Yenagoa, the state capital.
Controversy has trailed the former governor’s death with many claiming it was staged so that he could avoid being extradited to the United Kingdom on money laundering charges.
